Tycoon Basajabalaba remanded in Luzira

City businessman Hassan Bassajabalaba has been remanded to luzira prison. The businessman who was arrested yesterday from Entebbe Airport was taken to court from the police special investigations unit in Kireka
City tycoon Hassan basajjabalaba was taken to court from the police special investigations unit in Kireka where he spent the night following his arrest from Entebbe airport on Tuesday night.
He was charged in the anti corruption court with conspiracy to evade taxes for approximately 20 billion shillings, forgery of judicial documents and altering official documents which caused financial loss to government. His was charged alongside his brother muzamiru basajjabalaba.
Clad in a black and red strips sweater, basajjabalaba appeared in the chief magistrate's chambers and three charges were read to him.
The accused pleaded not guilty to all charges. His defence lawyers led by Kavuma kabenge allied for bail which state prosecution objected to.
He was remanded to luzira owing to the fact that the documents presented by the sureties were controversial and required time to be examined by state prosecutors
Matsiko kagoro Steven one of the sureties presented two letters of residence which raised suspicion.
Bassajabalaba was remanded to luzira prison until Thursday at 9:00am whewn he returns to court
